danot
First off, there are many other explanations as to what ghosts might be. I don't see why you need to believe in a God to believe in an afterlife. Beliefs don't need to be logical or to make sense. Check out one of truthlogic's threads for evidence of this.... Yet atheists use logic to discredit the arguments of theists. Why is that?
shortcrust
Yet atheists use logic to discredit the arguments of theists. Why is that? You speak of atheists as if they're a homogenous group who all believe the same things. They're not.

shortcrust
First off, there are many other explanations as to what ghosts might be. Such as ? 'Echos' from the past channelled through fissures in the fabric of space time? Leakage from parallel dimensions? Fluctuations in magnetic fields giving form to the 'memories' contained within the walls of buildings? In short, any old rubbish really.
Mr Prime
I'm an atheist and believe in ghosts but in the 'stone tape' theory rather than wandering spirits.
Tony
All of those would fit nicely into the "any old rubbish" explanation though they do seem to crop up often from people who are otherwise perfectly sensible.

An atheist is simply someone who doesn't believe in God! The term 'atheist' implies nothing about the reasons why this might be the case. Someone who believes that God doesn't exist because he was destroyed in a space battle with the King of the Xlanthians of Blargon 5 is still an atheist.
