How can an atheist believe in ghosts?

Recommended Posts

First off, there are many other explanations as to what ghosts might be.

I don't see why you need to believe in a God to believe in an afterlife. Beliefs don't need to be logical or to make sense. Check out one of truthlogic's threads for evidence of this....;)

Yet atheists use logic to discredit the arguments of theists. Why is that?

You speak of atheists as if they're a homogenous group who all believe the same things. They're not.
I thought an atheist believed one thing and one thing only- that Gods cannot exist because the idea is illogical.

Such as ?

'Echos' from the past channelled through fissures in the fabric of space time? Leakage from parallel dimensions? Fluctuations in magnetic fields giving form to the 'memories' contained within the walls of buildings?

In short, any old rubbish really.

NO!

An atheist is simply someone who doesn't believe in God! The term 'atheist' implies nothing about the reasons why this might be the case. Someone who believes that God doesn't exist because he was destroyed in a space battle with the King of the Xlanthians of Blargon 5 is still an atheist.
