Tony
But that's the impression that you are giving people and regardless of whether it is right or wrong you are the one that has to live with that through your body art choices.

That's exactly the point. Suppose two people go for a job, both equally qualified. One is a well-spoken, well-presented person with no tattoos, the other is a rough looking chav with visible piercings and tattoos. Which is most likely to get the job? wornout53
Too right. When I see someone with tattoos the message I get is that this person is an violent, uneducated, unemployable thicko, and those first impressions are usually correct. Nothing like an ill informed biased load of rubbish is there? Most of my offspring have chosen to have one or more tattoos but all of them are a/ well educated, b/ employed and c/ not in any way shape or form violent. Tattoos are no more an indication of a person's social class, employability, education or temperament than say whether they have pierced ears or wear glasses. Tony
Ill-informed and biased it may be but knowing that would you advise your offspring against having tattoos for fear of them being held back?

Tony
absolute rubbish It's not rubbish though is it? This thread proves that people do make decisions on how people decorate themselves. It might not be right, it might not be fair, but it is what happens in real life. Would you advise your children against having tattoos knowing full well that it might hold them back in life?
