dosxuk
Apparently, they would have put all 3 on the referendum but due to the cuts they couldn't afford the ink. Seriously though, how difficult would it have been... But then you'd need a referendum to decide which voting system to use for the referendum
evildrneil
Personally i would find difficulty in making multiple votes. The idea of settling for sloppy seconds is surely counter productive and would lead to more argument than we have at present. You don't have to - if you have no second preference you don't have to put one.
HeadingNorth
so we're damned if we do, because AV isn't that great a system and we'll be stuck with it for a very long time The more Lib-Dem MPs reach Parliament, the better the chances of PR eventually being introduced; but a lot of people who might prefer a PR system are dead-set on voting No this year because they're annoyed with the Lib-Dems. Grandad.Malky
No this year because they're annoyed with the Lib-Dems. The Lib Dems have shot their bolt, unfortunately it was into their foot.
max
On The Now Show this evening there was an explanation of how AV works and, more importantly, why the BNPiss are supporting the "No" campaign. It transpires that they're worried that their core voters, who struggle with spelling "X" correctly, would stay away from the polling stations if they were expected to remember in which order numbers ran. Did they have a BNP official on to say that?
Mecky
including me - vote no - humiliate that lying duplicitous no mark clegg thank you and goodnight It's not just because of that, it's because extremists like BNP and such would stand to gain. The only people who want AV are those who stand the most to gain.
altus
It's not just because of that, it's because extremists like BNP and such would stand to gain. The way to beat the BNP is to subject them to public scrutiny and get them try to justify their claims. If you do that, rather than let them spread their lies on the quiet, they won't get anywhere. The only people who want AV are those who stand the most to gain. Apart from many in the Labour Party - including the leader. Introducing it was part of the Labour manifesto for the last election.
