jazzamatazz
Simon Mcbride He was immediately recruited by Sweet Savage (Vivian Campbell/Def Leppard) with whom he recorded two albums and regularly played major festivals. That was 13 years ago, since when he has toured the world as guitarist for diverse acts including Grammy nominated soulman Andrew Strong. Along the way he has played with artists like TM Stevens, Charlie Morgan, Zorro, Hugh Burns, Slash and Steve Lukather JJ Grey & Mofro Singing with a passion and fervor directly influenced by the classic soul heroes, JJ Grey has written and recorded five albums of original songs steeped in the rhythm & blues, rock, and country soul of his native backwoods home outside Jacksonville, Florida. Grey comes from a long tradition of Southern storytellers and, in that spirit, he fills his songs with details that are at once vivid, personal and universal. After a decade of hard touring, he still spends eight months of the year on the road, bringing his music to a loyal, ever-growing, worldwide fanbase. Q Mag. 4/5 **** "Grey’s blues’n’soul seems tilled from the same soil as The Black Crowes, found near a crossroads between Southern rock and Memphis soul.” Mojo 4/5**** “JJ could be breaking out with this album for Alligator. Cut in the same retro studio Grey’s been using for many years, “Georgia Warhorse” makes an immediate impact with every track dipping back into the swamp for inspiration.” Uncut 4/5**** “With a voice as tough & gritty as the lumberyard he used to work in, Grey’s take on Southern boogie, swamp rock, soul & R’n’B is proudly old fashioned with echoes of Tony Joe White. Superb”. http://www.o2academysheffield.co.uk/event/25056/simon-mcbride-tickets

amofrofan
Hey everybody. I'm a big fan of JJ Grey & Mofro over in the states. They put on an excellent live show. Hope some of y'all can check them out. Their website is jjgrey.com. If anyone wants to see any of their vids you can go to their youtube channel youtube.com/user/JJGreyMusic#g/f I'd describe their music if I could but it's really hard. It's bluesy but not blues, it's funky but not funk, it's southern rock but not in a Lynyrd Skynrd sort of way. It's got a lot of soul and R&B to it. JJ's got a great voice. You won't regret going out on a wed nite to see them.
