Tony
Apparently parents of children with diagnosed ADHD can claim disability living allowance. Is money for parents an appropriate support method for these children?
mj.scuba
That's a lot of Haribos and Fruit Shoots.
Mister M
I don't know whether money to each individual family is the answer - perhaps that money could be used for each area to have a support service giving advice, respite and support for the kids and their parents. Wildcat
If the child needs a parent around to supervise and support them because of a medical condition, then surely the state should step in to help facilitate that. Otherwise poverty will force the parents to work and they will get blamed for not spending time needed with their children.
Anna B
I've taught a lot of children with ADHD, yet I would say only two of them genuinely suffered from an actual illness. The others had problems certainly, but not ADHD. I've even known of parents telling their children to 'playup' when being assessed so the parents could get the benefit.
