Tony
Slight surprise at figures released today. The number of people out of work fell unexpectedly 17,000 to 2.48 million, despite the jobs shake-out in the public sector. http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/politics/article-23941157-fall-in-jobless-is-shot-in-the-arm-for-david-cameron.do

scoobydotcom
I wonder if all the people who hailed the Tories as the saviours last year then changed their mind when they implemented the cuts that we were all warned about before the election will again change their mind seeing an unemployment is down? I doubt it

foxy lady
Actually this was the most important bit of the whole report " the number people in employment rose by 143,000 to 29.23 million, compared with a pre-recession peak of 29.56 million recorded for the three months to the end of May 2008" It seems that the number of people actually working is only 300,000 below the highest figure previously recorded. They can't all be working in Santa's Grotto.
