Lizzie
Hi everyone I used to live in Sheffield about 6 years ago but now based in London, and I am coming up via Sheffield to go to a wedding in July. I'm bringing my boyfriend, who shamefully has not ventured further North than Bedford....! Anyway, having sold the north on the basis I am going to provide a fantastic historical tour of the city (help will be requested in another thread...) I was looking for any tips on good hotels to stay in? Either city centre or I was thinking potentially heading out Ranmoor way, Dore (something closer to the countryside). Additionally good restaurants (preferably not chains), bars, pubs....etc. Okay I am asking for the world! I used to love Cubana's when I was in Sheffield, to give you an indication of the type of places would be looking for (chilled, a bit different). Definitely past the loud bars now.... We are only having one evening and one day in Sheffield. So any help would be gratefully received....(and any historical knowledge I reckon I can only spin they remove the iron fences from the front of the houses during WWII for about an hour....!) Thanks! funfamily
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g186364-Sheffield_South_Yorkshire_England-Vacations.html Think TripAdvisor has it about right - the Copthorne St. Pauls The Leopold Norfolk Arms (Ringinglow Road) Would go for any of the above... or if I had more money would book Edale - Losehill - simply no comparison with anything in the city... Strix
you could stay in what used to be the beauchief hotel, and eat in what is now christian's restaurant, and show him the home of steel at abbeydale industrial hamlet, then take a walk out at Totley

Ade65
The Rutland Hotel at Broomhill has a good reputation now, and is in a nice area but only a hop skip and jump from the city centre.
