boyfriday
The point is simple we have a million illegal immigrants 1 in 65 ish. http://www.canadaupdates.com/content/nearly-one-million-undocumented-immigrants-living-uk-study Nothing is been done to reverse this other tan tokenism. But your original argument was about immigration generally, you only mentioned illegals subsequently. I don't think Cameron or the government supports illegal immigration of any kind. By the way the source for your statistics is Migrationwatch, whilst they might be accurate it's a little like relying on Abu Hamza for an assessment of EDL members in Luton. TJC1
The headline says 'nearly 1 million', then the article says 1.1 million, they seem confused over their numbers. Theresa May also stated they don't know how many enterered during border agency lapses. It could conceivably be in the millions. The UK really has become a joke, even people coming over here from Poland etc. are finding the streets are not paved with gold as they hoped and they are actually better off in there homeland. anywebsite
To the 93 people that voted to stop immigration... If you stop immigration to the UK, what about British people that want to emigrate, would you stop them too? How would you pay for the care of the elderly, sick, disabled & unemployed who couldn't afford to flee when you came to power?

It could be over a million, I doubt it's several million, the point is that nobody really has a clue, some estimates are double other estimates, they're just pulling numbers out of the air. So it's not really a sound basis for a debate.
TJC1
A selective policy is the right way forward, not stopping altogether.
TJC1
..and who would look after them? How about training UK nationals to do UK jobs? might be a start. Why do we have to 'outsource'?
boyfriday
Immigration legal or not is immigration. That wasn't quite the spin you were wanting to put on the discussion though is it? The overwhelming number of immigrants to the UK are skilled and/or provide skills that we're short of, having passed through the points based check system. It's been said before but worth saying again, just as an example-there are a significant number of foreign students in the UK, 350,000 pa. They pay full tuition fees, which brings in revenue of £6.5 BILLION pa, not including their spend on accommodation, food, leisure etc.

Quick votes, cheap labour, cultural Marxism? Some immigration is good. But mass unchecked immigration only benefits the rich. It destroys the life chances of the every day individual.
