Religion’s role in gender discrimination?

Recommended Posts

But they were still Jews.

As PT said they became known as Christians later but they followed Jesus from day one and the teaching of Jesus is not the same as Judaism although you will find Jesus in the Old Testament which is the constant link running all the way through both books with the Old Testament recording the doings of the Jews. Another common link is the fact that many Jews converted to Christianity and you don't convert from one religion to another if it is the same religion. Do you! :hihi:

What does "converting" involve if both religions believe in the same god to start with ?

Jew can mean a religion or a nationality or ethnicity. so they can be both Jew and christian.

Bloody hell no wonder the Sheriff of Nottingham never caught him. Grahame, you have finally flipped now. Where did the other Robin Hoods live? if you meant that other people took from the rich and gave to the poor say so, they wouldn't have been called Robin Hood:roll::roll:

There were Robin Hoods all over the country spanning a period of several hundred years. When King John of France was captured and brought back captive to England by the Black Prince 500 Robin Hood men jumped out of the forest in front of him.

There was only one Legendary Robin Hood however and he was outlawed during the Peasants Revolt at York and he was from Hallamshire.

No its not religion. It's Biology. If women weren't designed to have babies and feed them then people wouldn't think that should be their only job. Just a thought, that discrimination came about before the religions you are talking about?

As far as Christianity is concerned I dont think gender discrimination is part of it any longer.

Up until the end of the 60s there existed a form of gender discrimination against Catholic women. The teaching was that they should stay at home, forget about a career of any sort, bear numerous children and stick with their husband even if he was adulterous
