The Large and the Small.

Not sure if this qualifies? There was a pub on Saville Street town side of Tommy Wards called the Hole in the Wall. it was next to a garage. They had a 'serving hatch' on the outside which you could knock on and they would serve you with a 'take away' drink. I know 'cos I worked nights at the petrol station and often had a couple of pints in the office!:D

I remember going in a pub at Heeley many years ago which seemed just like a terraced house, would it have been the 'Myrtle Inn'? That was pretty small as I remember.

Myrtle Inn was on Myrtle Road but, was accessible form Alexandra Road. In the 50's/60's the landlord was Eric Staniforth, his wife was Ellen (Helen) I believe.

It was small but, not as small as the Mount View (Cuckoo) on Gleadless Road.

The Wicker brewery to give it it`s proper name.

My Aunt and Uncle ran the Sheaf View in the mid 1970s. it was, indeed so very small. the loos were outside, and IIRC, this was why they were not permitted a spirits licence, only one to sell ales and porter.

They moved to Oxford in the late seventies.

heres a rare sight these days - the pic from the early 70's ?, and a recent pic looking bigger, and better, than ever !!!!

The current situation with pubs is usually the other way round :(!!!!!!
