Advise me on a quick fix for damp in the kitchen. Idea's with paint/tiles.

Any idea where the water is seeping in from? If it's a blocked gutter, a problem with a leaking pipe or an excess of rainwater hitting the wall then it might be easily fixed. If it's simply condensation then you should look into perhaps getting some kind of ventilation system fitted. If the damp occurs below 1m and you're on the ground floor then it may be rising damp and it will need to be damp proofed as the water in the wall will eventually degrade the brick and you'll have much worse problems.

I'd focus on the symptom and then look at decorating because you won't need anything too fancy if the wall is dry.

You could always call a damp proofing company that offers free quotes to come and make an assessment for you. It might work out cheaper than you think to fix it or at least you'll know what the issue is.

as above - identify the problem before you start the ongoing cycle of throwing money at expensive paint that won't do the job

if the wall is damp, it'll make the tiles damp and therefore cold, causing condensation to form on the surface

check you don't have anything leaning up against the outside wall, the patio or path hasn't been laid too high up to the damp proof course, and that your gutters are clear of debris and not leaking
