Why do people who made a lot of money under Labour criticise them so much?

Recommended Posts

Staying on topic, if the individual has made a lot of money whilst Labour were in power, should they complain about their economic record?

They might have benefitted from PFI but other people won't have. Those other people will also have to pay a share of the spending commitments the government made.

Maybe maybe the people complaining realise the economic harm it will do to others.

That depends on whether or not the same people have made enough money themselves.

I respect the viewpoint that some of those complaining are doing it for the benefit of others, this wasn't the case with the colleague at work though.

He seems to think if his personal wealth increases enormously, when the Government deficit increases that this is a bad thing for him.

Surely if we took some of the wealth back off these people we could wipe out the deficit and everyone would be happy.

I'm not actually sure why anyone who is making a lot of money should be complaining about the economic record of whoever is in power.

why? they could well have made all their money despite the government, they could also have become wealthy by foreign investments, or by working abroad. they could well have been even more wealthy before labour came to power and are now less well off then before. you seem to make massive assumptions about someone you do not know all for one reason, to praise labour.

I'll bet my shoes you won't

looking at titanics record, im with you here. titanic serves only propagate new labour propaganda. even as the house of cards came crumbling down, titanic was making claims about how much the country is worth, failing to grasp the fact the amount was based in majority on debt. even gordon brown has admitted his failings.

Your question was "Why do people" rather than "Why does this person". As for your colleage, some people are just self centred and can't look at the wider impact of things.

Not so simple. Many of the people who benefitted from PFI for instance will have been in the building trades. They may have used their income to put down the deposit on a house or something else that has given them long term spending commitments. With the reduction in the amount of building going on at the moment, and a consequent reduction in their incomes, they may be already struggling to keep up with their repayments.

But the Government (whichever party that is) sets the legislation that will determine whether or not these people are succesfull, if the previous Government set the legislation that brought wealth to a lot of people then surely these people should acknowledge this instead of complaining about what they did or didn't do.

Likewise if this administration cannot generate growth then surely these same people should criticise them.

you are confusing wealth with debt once more but to quote George Santayana:

"those who do not read history are doomed to repeat it. those who fail to learn from the mistakes of their predecessors are destined to repeat them."

How can the person complaining be bust when he is doing so well?

Perhaps its due to the government building up £1.3 trillion of debt that we will all have to pay for.

Any fool can have the trappings of wealth if its all bought on a credit card. Sadly the credit card debt has to be paid off.
