John X
I know this sounds terrible but as soon as I saw the OP's link to a story in the Daily Mail, I immediately thought 'Just another nonsense story from the Daily Mail" I really can't be bothered to read the story but if turns out that the OP's thread title 'All dogs to have £35 microchip' is actually true, I will donate £100 to the Sheffield Children's Hospital, as punishment for being so narrow-minded. sand_dollars
I think so too, the people that are responsible now will comply, the back yard breeders that are already irresponsible will continue to be...why should they comply, when things get to hot to handle they just get rid then get another when things settle down. Also I wonder where they pluck the £35 microchipping fee from, it doesn't usually cost anything like that. Most responsible owners have them chipped not a case of complying .But because if a dog or cat gets lost its easy to find the owner if picked up . I`ve had all my animals chipped
meyouus
won't the £35 cost factor put people off from getting a dog as a pet? i hope it does, to many dogs around. cull them now
boobalina
my staffy is microchipped, comes in handy if he gets lost now and again
0742Sheff
I think it's a stupid idea. It isn't going to help one iota. Professional breeders will pay an extra £35 and the idiots will carry on breeding regardless not chipping anything.
megalithic
If anyone tries to stick my dog with one of those they'll need a hospital visit to extract a size 9 from their anal tract.

I`ve had all my animals chipped Well yes I agree with you, all of mine are chipped as well so it wouldn't matter to me unless this was a specialist scheme that meant it needed doing again in which case I wouldn't be too happy at all. But what I meant was that responsible people do it anyway, and will continue to do so, the others don't and no matter what the government says will continue not to, so I can't see it reaching the ones that it needs to anyway.
