I think there's quite a high possibility that the fact you're an arse is the real reason, they probably just felt the HAD to invite you to the daytime bit. If money is tight and they have a lot of friends then maybe they have had to make some difficult decisions. The chance to dance to Agadoo and shove a few sausage rolls down your neck is the way to celebrate the sanctity of marriage.
