What sort of hobby/sport would you want to share with a future partner?

Recommended Posts

We both do the same martial art(s), which can be up to three evenings and an afternoon in a busy week, we both love snowboarding, we go to the gym together, we have mostly mutual friends who we socialise with and we occasionally hike (I do that more often).

We also have a few of our own things, and a few friends each who aren't quite so mutual (although we can both get on with the other halves friends).

We've been married 40 odd years, and our hobbies are quite different. My OH is into music, writing and recording it, practising the keyboard. He also likes sport on TV.

I read loads, I'm into genealogy and SF, and go out much more than he does to meet friends, go to the cinema etc. I'm off out for lunch today, while he's staying at home.

We've been for a walk this morning, we go to the theatre occasionally, and we do the garden together. We go out for lunch or longer walks sometimes, and we usually have something to talk about. We also watch a couple of programmes together on TV, although our viewing choices are often quite different.

Works for us. Doing stuff together most of the time just wouldn't in our case.

Do you make a conscious effort to 'work' at your marriage, that is what people say when asked what keeps the chemistry in a marriage alive?
