foxforcefive
so a family could go from working class to upper class in a generation? footballers, rock-stars etc and their kids? I don't know, could they?
Kaimani
I don't know, could they? not sure. if 'old money', no clue of the real world, never needing to work etc are traits of the upper classes then most of the kids of footballers, rock stars etc qualify. If I bought into the whole 'class' thing, I'd say they were a 'class' of their own.

Kaimani
No. Money doesn't come into it people keep saying that. but i think of anything else that would make it so more than money. you can't be upper class on a council estate, can you? Kaimani
Yes. No reason why not so, what is upperclass then? you're just born into it and you can't lose it?
mossdog
As has been said before! there are only two classes of people in Britain today! The Public Sector and the Private Sector..............both posses equally rich and poor members, some thick some brilliant, some criminals some law abiding. If you spit the "reliance on the state dummy" out, never has the chance to aspire to your goals ever been greater from either class!
discodown
so, what is upperclass then? you're just born into it and you can't lose it?Upper classes are basically nobility and aristocracy and landed gentry, you are born into it more or less. You can lose it but you almost certainly won't
WeX
i always though upper class was aristocracy, middle class were those who own their own business, working class worked for others and lower class were the un-educated dole scum.
