Gram?
They like to show their 'expert' knowledge as always. Take this for example: Since when (and where) has Islam prided itself on sexual inequality- it would help people like Danot to read a little on Pre Islamic Arabia. .When baby girls were being buried alive simply for being female. .Or how Islam gave women ownership rights- also the right to vote etc. .As recently as 100 years ago, in French law, a woman could not own any property without the signature of her husband In Islam ,the rights and responsibilities of a woman are equal to those of man, but they are not necessarily identical with them. Equality and sameness are two very different things. I think you’ll agree that, for one thing, women and men are physically very different from one another, although they are equal to each other in other important ways. Problem is, Pakistan is just one of many countries that appears 'Islamic' but is far from it- once the Islamophobes see the ill treatment they jump up and take notice- without checking the facts. Nah, Islam definately discriminates against women.

melthebell
Nah, Islam definately discriminates against women. ALL religion discriminates against women, just they all do it differently from one another how many struggles has there been for female clergy in the christian church? what about the anti contraception / abortion aspects? in most religions women are seen as the ones to look after the home and children etc etc etc

Islamic women are not equal to Islamic men. They are treated with little respect and consideration. This is how Islamic men treat their women. andikay
you do have a point. but in a time where you're forced to be male or female depending on what genitals you have regardless of what gender you fell you are an acknowledgment that it's recognized you might have this but are that is a start. it'll be interesting to see how this pans out, and look into if they'll go all the way and accept born males as women after a sex change. it's still a big step in my book. It looks like they have always been accepted but have suffered decades of discrimination and harassment. andikay
not sure what you're trying to say here. anyway, back on topic- i think it's a good sign and, in this case, they are way ahead of us. I agree it a good sign but it’s not way ahead of us, after they have changed sex here they can change their birth certificate and be classed as their new gender.
