Fed up with this royal wedding - or not?

Recommended Posts

Somebody was moaning about the cost of this wedding, I think 20 million was talked abot. There are abot 50 million in Britain. That's less than 50 P a head. That would be two quid for a family of four. The prestige it brought the country was immense, superbly run as only Britain can do it, and massive tourist income. You got a bargain.

Good point buck, surely no one is sad enough to begrudge 50p!

She was exploited by the wrong crowd ? She WAS the wrong crowd. No one forced her to take drugs, lucky she had the money to buy them.

.......and the money for private treatment and rehab. Not enough strength of character and breeding to say NO in the first place :loopy:

To be fair to the poor girl she just wanted a good time. Her breeding came into play when she found the strength to kick the habit, most commoners don't possess such strength.

I thought Kate's dress was fantastic. Totally tasteful, as were her flowers. Compared to the other, OTT, Katie :gag:, no competition.

The whole thing went wonderfully well, and the British public who turned out in droves to watch the procession obviously enjoyed themselves.

I'm no ardent royalist, but I enjoy the pageantry of a big occasion. I also thought the choir in the Abbey sounded fabulous.

It made me proud to be British actually. It is great that Kate is from a different background and seems to be well grounded. She will hold her own with the Royals I think.

It was all very well managed and apart from the 2 Princesses who looked really foolish, the whole thing was in good taste.I think that William deserves to have some happiness after what he went through as an adolescent and all that pressure he had on him with Camilla etc.

This comment is wrong on so many levels. The worst kind of addict (drug and/or alcohol) are those that got into that state because they 'wanted to have a good time'. For many, many more it results from an underlying mental health problem and an attempt at self-medication to find oblivion from a tortured existence. It is laughable for you to refer to TPT a a 'poor girl' because she got into her self-inflicted position because she wanted to have a good time. I doubt you would refer to anyone else who did this in the same terms if they were not so 'well-bred'.

As for her 'breeding', I believe (correct me if I am wrong) that technically she IS a commoner as she is not a member of the aristocracy (I don't think 'it-girl' is a recognised title?). And uncomfortable as it sounds YOU are technically a commoner too (I am assuming this as you have not yet started a thread about having a title, merely ones boasting that you have loadsa money at every opportunity).

Finally, it wasn't down to breeding and strength that enabled her to kick the habit, it was simply that she had enough money to go to a high-class rehab facility which most addicts could simply dream of.

Face it LordofStrad you are an unadulterated snob, and if you had a shred of 'breeding' you would not take every opportunity to boast about how much money you had/what car you drive/how nice the place you live in etc. It all smacks of insecurity IMO.

People who genuinely have money, dont feel any need to advertise it. Enough said :suspect:
