Thirsty Ear
THIRSTY EAR presents CRITICAL BEATDOWN SAT 7TH MAY THE HARLEY a night of hip-hop, future beats, electronic, dubstep and more with special guest DJ SLUGABED [Ninja Tune / Planet Mu / Ramp] http://www.facebook.com/slugabedmusic Blending influences both classic and contemporary, from the outermost reaches of dubstep, hip-hop and beyond, Slugabed's productions have been gaining props in a big way recently. Under his Slugabed alias, Greg Feldwick evokes the sound and spirit of Madlib-influenced post-Dilla west coast hip-hop, whilst simultaneously stalking the length and breadth of the UK’s dubstep / bass music scene. Mary Anne Hobbs, Mark Pritchard, Benji B and Various Production were among the early converts, all vocalizing their admiration for the young producer. It was arguably his ‘Ultra Heat Treated’ EP, released in 2009 on the prestigious Planet Mu label, that propelled Slugabed furthest into the spotlight, winning him new support and glowing reviews across the board, as well as interest from some of the best cutting-edge record labels around. Partly as a result he was offered a chance to remix Roots Manuva’s all-time great 'Witness' for Ninja Tune's 20th anniversary boxset. The result was one of the stand-outs of that mammoth collection, Manuva himself liking it so much that he requested the instrumental so that he could use it in his live set. An album deal with the label followed shortly after. Plus he's got a cool moustache. support come from these awesome dudes: - SPACED OUT FAMILY [Lost Twin / A Future Without] Experimental hip-hop and electronic beats all the way from Spain.
