Plug
Shuffle presents The Japanese Popstars - LIVE Saturday 7th May 22:30 - 04:00 £5.00 http://www.the-plug.com/events-and-tickets/shuffle/shuffle-presents-japanese-popstars-live http://www.myspace.com/thejapanesepopstars May kicks off with a visit from an act who played for us at Shuffle last time when a fairly unknown act as part of a Stanton Sessions. Having gone on to blosom into stars of their own, this time they return as a headline act in their own right. Plug welcomes THE JAPANESE POPSTARS on Saturday 7th. Not Japanese, and still not yet really Popstars either, they're actually from Ireland. Consisting of three DJ/producers with number one records in the US & Australia and a host of live appearances under their belt, The Popstars are a force to be reckoned with. Having played at numerous festivals and club venues since their last visit to Plug they've fine tuned a belter of a show which encompasses many CDJ's and bit of magical audio trickery thrown in too. Since their debut single they've gone on to work with a host of top musical talent. Mercury Prize-nominated Irish singer-songwriter Lisa Hannigan appears on the uplifting, melodic house of 'Song For Lisa' and Chicago house legend Green Velvet provides his unique vocals to 'Let Go', a storming, twisted, electro banger. There's plenty to choose from and their sets twist and turn between hands in the air monsters to deep and dark tech house. Something for everyone. Good times. The Live room it’s FLOORFILLERS bringing its Saturday night magic into the venue for more weekend escapism. Ollie Hayes (Hallam FM) needs no introduction - at Shuffle he will be dropping the biggest dance anthems selected from the best years of your life, mashed up to the bangers of now: Dizzee meets Pendulum, Deadmau5 rubs up to David Guetta, whilst Calvin breaks down into Faithless, Darude and the Prodigy. In earth we have the rapidly expanding RnB sessions with Becky Hayes & LJ Freeman, expect evertything from the old school vibes of Black Street and R Kelly to modern day grooves from Labyrinth to Gyptian to Nicki Minaj
