Lushcannon
I was queuing to pay for petrol in Morrisons this morning when my mobile rang. When I answered it I was told I had to go on the forecourt to answer it.Anyone any idea why this is?
Leah-Lacie
So you could blow yourself up? I thought you couldn't use them on the forecourt?
The Blonde
It's to prevent fire's because supposedly your phone could spark and cause the place to blow up
Saffy
Hmm .. so why send him onto the forecourt?
Leah-Lacie
I would assume, and the same for smoking, if you are inside the building, and more away from fumes, theres less chance of the sparks causing an explosion
sheffbag
If that is the case then why arent remote locking keys banned as well on forecourts? smoking i understand as there is a source of ignition but never quite got the whole mobile phone thing. Sid Umpley
its a knee jerk reaction to an urban myth. top gear did a good episode where they tried their best to ignite petrol fumes with a phone. they failed.
kermit103
More chance igniting the fumes from static electricity from you touching the car body
Rageness
There is almost zero chance of it happening, As you can see some people get over sensitive about it though like always. How ever there is a video some where of a fuel tanker dropping fuel off at the station while on the roof of his truck on the phone, The whole thing goes up. Isn't that the video where he uses a lighter to see if the tanker is empty?
