Quickest way to remove tree stumps advice please

Recommended Posts

I did say anonymous but OK. Try this. Get an old person to ring up MOD. Say that they have been waiting since 1940 for the bomb disposal lads to return to remove the UX bomb that they got called away from.

Thank god for a sensible comment amongst the facetiae that I've received!

My next door neighbour has to be at least 90 but still retains some marbles. Bet she'd be up for it! (not in the biblical sense before smut merchants take over!) :D

An old remedy I've heard is to drill holes into the tree stump and pour in battery acid, to kill off the roots.

It's probably not an environmentally friendly solution. It may even be illegal nowadays under environmental laws.

6 volt or 12 volt? :D

I'm not particularly bothered about the roots ... they go on for miles. I just want to get rid of the stumps so I can cover my garden over them. :)

In that case you just need a big bonfire on top of the stumps.

I've just had a flash of inspiration!!

If you know anybody with dogs - preferably dogs with big, strong teeth - you could sprinkle the stumps with gravy and the dogs will chew them up for you!!

See how sensible you can be when you put your mind to it?! :P

Ive just removed a large tree and its root ball from my garden. I hired a mini digger from Turner Hire on London Rd. The digger was about 65 cm wide and fits through a house door. The tracks then extend outwards. They charge £65 per day but I got a good long weekend deal from them. I still had to expose some of the large roots by hand, and cut through them with a hand saw, but the digger then helped when it came to digging out around the tree and lifting it out.

Last year I had some tree stumps removed by Dronfield Tree Surgeons (the ones in the green vans). They came with a stump grinder that grinds the stump away in seconds. They charged me about £100

Instead of getting rid of them, with all the time and effort that will entail, why not turn them into a decorative feature?

If you happened to have the odd Fray Bentos tin lying around, you could easily make a haven for our feathered friends - feeding bowls, water bowls, perhaps even nests.

Yeah...i bet your garden looks beautiful..:suspect:
