llamatron
Agreed. However, in traditional conservative areas many of the councils are still tory led which would suggest the government isn't unpopular there. Or perhaps its just the tory bit they like! But the lib-dems are taking a bit of a walloping up here. It appears their popularity has waned since they got into government, and people see that as a reason not to vote for them in local elections. Hence the local results in Sheffield which could be viewed as a protest against the government. I think it may be more that people either definitely dont want labour or definitely dont want the conservatives so they can't go for lib dems. Tony
He should call a General election immediately then We decided last year who we wanted for five years. Thankfully most politicians of all parties have a longer concentration span that a goldfish or you.

Mecky
We decided last year who we wanted for five years. What are you so scared of if it's as clear cut as people are trying to make out?
Mr Prime
We decided last year who we wanted for five years. Thankfully most politicians of all parties have a longer concentration span that a goldfish or you. Last year returned a resounding "don't really know". Another election would be a good thing as a year has been more than enough to see the character of the current government.

Another election would be a good thing as a year has been more than enough to see the character of the current government. But they haven't had long enough for us to see the effect of their policies. We definitely know the damage the previous governments policies did!
WeX
But the Conservatives have only been able to form a government because of how popular Lib Dems were in the north. They didn't actually win the election. tbh with the labour defeats in scotland, this may well mean labour would gain no overall increase while the tories have increased their support in england. with the snp majority scotland this could mean independence is on the cards and that would be the end of labour in westminster. WeX
No we didn't, as you well know. What are you so scared of if it's as clear cut as people are trying to make out? there was only one resounding result from the election in 2010 and that was a heavy defeat for labour. no matter what they say, they were defeated and this is why they are the only people calling for an election but this is inly by the vocal supporters on places like sf, no labour mp has made this call as they know how stupid it would make them look. this is the uk, unlike ireland we do not run elections until the right result is obtained, the people voted and made their judgement for the next 5 years. get used to it. Mr Prime
But they haven't had long enough for us to see the effect of their policies. We definitely know the damage the previous governments policies did! I expect you are right, I am not baying for an election and the coalition do deserve a chance to breathe. I do believe people would be more decisive this time round but then again this is the great British public.
alchresearch
Isn't it funny how nobody on here is talking about the pasting that Labour got in Scotland!
