Douglas J
The lane top one has been bought by Iceland, it was pretty empty at the weekend and was obviously being cleared out ready to transfer over to Iceland. Can someone post when it's open again? Down at Woodseats, there old Netto has become an Iceland, right next to ... Iceland. not sure what's going to happen there. 0114owl1867
I'm not sure how popular Iceland Lane Top will be but maybe people won't travel too far when they can get frozen stuff at a more local supermarket. I don't know how Asda Cross actually compares to Chapeltown/Handsworth (size-wise) but I reckon it will be smaller. No announcement has been made yet on opening hours. I just hope that people will use two supermarkets and pick up all the bargains and loss-leaders from both and save a fortune. We could do with a supermarket price compare website just for sheffield. . . . asda at parson x will probably dwarf the asda at handsworth have you seen the size of the steelwork thats been put up ? and iceland at lane top will be snided with m****ms from firth park and fir vale just like it was every time i went in there for cheapo boozo
Unregistered
ASDA at Parson X will probably dwarf the ASDA at Handsworth. Have you seen the size of the steelwork thats been put up ? Yes but correct me if I'm wrong. Maybe ASDA PX is looking bigger than it will actually be because I think that it is being built on "stilts" so that cars will park underneath the store. I can't see any car park on the aerial plan. Key ASDA Parson Cross Facts: 38,000 sq ft sales and storage area. 350 car parking spaces. Taxi drop off point. 350 new full and part time jobs for local people. Full range of ASDA products including George clothing, Extra Special Range, ASDA brand and Smart Price. ASDA’s low prices and more supermarket choice for local people. Improved public transport and bus facilities. Landscaping features. Parson Cross will benefit from decades of store building experience. Hoping to open the store for Christmas 2011. . . .
HeadingNorth
Key ASDA Parson Cross Facts: 38,000 sq ft sales and storage area. 350 car parking spaces. I can't find the sales and storage area for Asda at Handsworth, and I'm quite rubbish at estimating areas - but I'm certain it has more than 350 car parking spaces. I would infer from this that PX won't be as large a store as Handsworth.
