Thorpy
Can any of you tell me how I can get hold of a photograph of the old cottages which used to stand almost opposite Heeley Church on Gleadless Road. I think they were knocked down in either the late fifties or early sixties I've searched Picture Sheffield, but no luck. There must be some record of them somewhere, I hope some one can point me in the right direction.
White Horse
Heeley History Group put on an excellent photo exhibition at the Church during the Heeley Festival (18th June). There are a lot of images of the area pre housing clearance in the 70's so would be worth having a look. I also know that Sheffield Archives have images of Heeley that have not made it onto Picture Sheffield yet and you can usually get photocopies of the pictures if you call in to the Local Studies Library in town.
