danot Posted July 10, 2011 Share Posted July 10, 2011 So you can't recall the other females in swimwear in Bond films, Baywatch, Pirelli Calendars, a not insignificant portion of music videos... maybe you should go and see a doctor your memory seems worryingly full of holes.My memory is fine, I'm just struggling to find any correlative significance between swimwear and women being commercially sexualised. As far as I'm aware(speaking from a man's point of view)a woman in swimwear isn't nearly as sexually provocative as a woman in underwear. Isn't that why most people would gasps in shock-horror if a woman wore only her underwear in public yet not bat an eyelid when it's a bikini? Get yourself down town this weekend, better still- treat yourself to a night out in Blackpool... just don't let the missus catch you looking at the girls she'll most likely be frowning at. Besides iirc Bay Watch was popular both before Ms Anderson joined and after she left, women in swimwear on the other hand were a permanent fixture. The recent anti-playboy protest for example was organised by UK Feminista & Object they have no mention of Slutwalks on their websites. Feminists are anything but a monolithic bloc and different people within the movement disagree with each other about many things such as whether or not the likes of playboy are subjects of concern. I'm aware of this and I don't even have a TV.Oh yeah, I remember Kerry Katona doing the same but she went on to win? What ever happened to her career? She obviously didn't pack a swimsuit. I'm beginning to think your red neck comes from being out in the sun all day, mmm things are beginning to add up..
