Natsman
I know someone who retrained at 64. He is still working as a lollipop man now six months later.
crookesey
It's a 4 year course if i pass everything first time round, that would make me 38 after the course. @0742 Yeah mate! i wish i had been more interested, years back now My son, now aged 32, went on a joinery course circa 4 years ago. He couldn't stand the chav type thick heads who were the courses standard student, and threw in the towel.

shinyhappy68
Hello Folks - I've been toying with the idea of retraining through College while still holding down a regular job, but was wanting to ask the nice judgemental folk on SF, what age is too old to start a new career? Thanx Go for it. Im 42 and in first year of my social work degree xx
Halibut
Cheers guys, it's made me a little more confident in knowing it's not that uncommon. You're welcome - if you fancy it, go for it. I retrained when I was a few years older than you are and I've not regretted it for a moment. As it happens, I'm actually less well paid than I was before, but I'm a hell of a lot happier and I genuinely enjoy the work i do.

It's a P/T Electricians course, so i will only be attending college one night a week - hopefully the chav type folk will be at college through the day.
