Marie Curie Cancer Care is hosting it’s second award winning ‘Great Escape Challenge’ on the 21st May in the Peak District and are on the look out for some event volunteers to help them out!

The Great Escape Challenge is Marie Curie’s flagship corporate challenge that last year won an award for its excellence. We have a 38km course with 10 challenges specifically designed for Marie Curie Cancer Care by Northstar Events, the event company will be in charge of all logistics on the day and we will be supporting them to deliver the event to participants. The participants will be trekking 10km and cycling 28km as well as working together to complete 10 different challenges, none of which will be revealed to them until the Friday night briefing.

The weekend will begin early for the volunteers with a campsite opening on the evening of Thursday 19th May at 6pm. On Friday the 20th May volunteers will be trained for the sector that they will be working on. These roles won’t be allocated until you arrive at the event; however most of the roles will involve being out in the hills all day. Volunteer roles will include marshalling the car park, overseeing team challenge rules, marking challenge results and manning start/finish/lunch areas. On the Saturday the corporate teams will take on the challenge which will be followed in the evening by a prize giving and celebration, including a live band and DJ, you will be needed to help out with a few general jobs but for most of the evening you will be able to enjoy the party!

Volunteers will be provided with a Great Escape t-shirt on the day as well as all of your meals throughout the course of the event. You will need to bring your own camping equipment and clothing suitable for hot and wet conditions.
