Recommended Posts

Funny,I mean when they cut in from the middle lane undertake a slow moving car in the middle lane, then pull in front of me leaving a 3 foot braking distance in front of a 38 tonne truck doing 56 miles an hour put there brakes on and then dive back into the middle lane:loopy:

That’s the whole point ,what you describe is what most people would call undertaking …….. Progressing in “your” lane which just happens to be moving faster than the lane to the right isn’t strictly speaking “undertaking”

I drive HGV trucks and I see all sorts of things some mad some dangerous, you have to take it in your stride as there are so many bad drivers you would be arguing all day, thats why I say don,t get involved they will get you in an accident that is nothing to do with you, just drive past them and ignore them they are bad drivers, there is a lot worse things like people driving to close and going to fast, undertaking is a dangerous practice I see on a daily basis,i could go on all day about dad drivers.

Surely if you ( in HGV), in the inside lane come up behind a slow moving vehicle in the middle lane, then you would be snookered as you cannot go into lane 3 to legally overtake.

No I'm in the inside lane, drivers come from the middle lane and undertake from the middle lane and go back into the middle lane,if I come up to a slow moving vehicle in the inside lane I pull into the middle lane overtake and go back into the inside lane, thats why people hogging the middle lane course so much trouble.

My point was that the middle lane hogger causes more trouble for you than it does for a car driver, as you cannot overtake it legally, so you would be stuck.

Edit - all the quotes seem to be wrong, I don't know why.

yep thats true, the ones that doodle along for miles in the middle lane at the same speed as us in the trucks, and don't move over when we need to overtake get my goat, especially going up a hill fully laden

Middle lane hogging has always been a contentious subject say you are doing 70 miles an hour and some one comes up behind you and starts flashing his lights and intimidating you they are in the wrong, if you are doing 70 miles an hour in the middle lane there is no law against you doing that but its what the other drivers do to get around you that would be braking the law ,as far as I know there is no law against driving in the middle lane, the coppers can stop you and advise you about your driving but thats all, its more of an annoyance hogging the middle lane, its the inpatient and inexperienced drivers making the wrong moves at speed that can be so bad, middle lane hogs doing 50 to 60 miles an hour are the worst especially when the lanes are clear, some people are just bad drivers and are not safe to be on the motorways, some people don't realize how dangerous doing silly things on the motorways can be, Iv'e seen some horrific accidents and most of them were the fault of speeding and inpatient driving.

The maximum speed on the motorway is 70mph how can 50 be too slow? lorrys are limited to 50ish max should they be ban too as thats far to slow?

As far as I'm concerned lorries should be banned full stop!!!!

At least a couple of people I know have said they travel in the middle lane because they are scared of driving on motorways and that way they don't have to keep changing lane to overtake!

That does beg the question 'should they be driving on motorways (or in fact any roads) at all'?

AND THERE WE ARE!! IF SOME **** IS DOING 60 MPH IN THE MIDDLE LANE, AND YOU ARE COMING UP BEHIND HIM IN THE INSIDE LANE, THE HC SAYS YOU MUST PASS ON THE RIGHT...THATS 3 LANES YOUVE GOTTA USE TO GET PAST HIM. BAN THE ********, THATS WHAT!!

Speed limit is 70mph, it means you can drive any speed upto 70mph and not over, 60mph in the middle lane is acceptable, how can the police fine someone for staying within the speedlimit
