samsparro
Stick it on the old airport.... plenty of room there. Not 100% certain, but isn't the HS2 due to go through the old airport? Might mean it wouldn't be big enough...

No, they will be using existing tracks (upgraded) where the old steelworks once were.
carolwat
My eyes lit up when I say the title of this thread thinking Yay an IKEA is coming to Sheffield. And then realised that it is still in the planning stage. I don't understand why they think it will take trade away from John Lewis as they sell different sorts of things. I am not well enough to get to the Leeds or Nottingham IKEA so its a pain trying to get hold of IKEA stuff.

byeo
Can you not order online? You can but I enjoy going into their restaurant half way around for some Swedish meatballs, then a hotdog once I've paid for my furniture.
rad
Some things can be ordered on-line but there are a lot of things that can't. Plus the delivery is quite steep so it can be a bit annoying (although my car is titchy so I have to have furniture delivered anyway). I do think we'd be in trouble if we ever did get an IKEA here, though. I mean, the Star relies on rumourmongering about IKEA for its front page several times a year. They're going to need something new to write about
alchresearch
Time to start widening a few roads then. Or is that too obvious. No, but easier said than done. A huge undertaking, all for the sake of a shop which could be placed in half a dozen more suitable locations?
