The IKEA in Sheffield thread

Recommended Posts

I suppose if anyone is really interested they could always ring the planning department and get some information plus the names of the officers over-seeing the project. I've not bothered to look for the planning agenda so maybe the agenda has been filled with other important issues or maybe Ikea are stil tweaking their plans and so not ready to have them looked at, unless some-one asks questions then who's to say what the hold up is.

It said in the Star that Meadowhall and the other objectors had seen the new plans for traffic flow in the area and are now in agreement with them so the newly drawn plans are to be discussed at the next planning meeting.

Meadowhall are also prepared to help fund the traffic flow changes too.

A new super school due to be built on the site of the Don Valley Stadium has only raised concerns from SYP over traffic congestion, but not the council. Now how can the council have concerns over traffic congestion with the IKEA store ,but not the school ? This council is not fit for purpose.

Maybe because a school generates much less traffic than an IKEA ever will?

I cant see why the council are allowing a school to be built there, I would have expected them to have insisted that it was built on the staples/mothercare site!!

Maybe the planning committee were told by their council leaders it wouldnt be a good career move to refuse the plans :)
