About time........... common sense prevails.

Its just a shame sheffield council didnt apply common sense when it came to the NEXT planning application as it would have saved the taxpayer thousands and it would have come to a swift conclusion like this has.

They showed they had learnt their lesson when they approved the Ikea application back in June. Why the Tory Government then had to delay things further by bringing it in for this review is anyone's guess.

You are right though Penistone999, it's good to see the common sense applied by Sheffield Council in originally approving this has prevailed.

Ikea gets the go-ahead in Sheffield

Sheffield will get a new Ikea store - after the long-awaited application passed its final hurdle today.

Secretary of State for Department of Communities and Local Government Eric Pickles, who has the final say on the £60m scheme, has said he is satisfied with the decision of Sheffield Council to let it go ahead.

Great news and only 10 years too late, good on Ikea for standing their ground

Can we finally put this thread to bed, in a very deep dark hole never to be resurrected ???
