The IKEA in Sheffield thread

Recommended Posts

What, these quotes?

' STAY AWAY from the Meadowhall and Ikea area, there will be some traffic!!'

"- CARS AAGGHH -"

"It might be like Christmas!"

"Use the Tram or walk along the canal when you go to buy your new very large furniture"

If you used some of your time away from the forum and did your own research rather than expecting other people to do it for you, you'd find where the quotes came from, it's not difficult, there are pages and pages of results for you to read, like I did.

So if one man queues for four hours on his own is it still a queue or is it loitering ?

And how can he be Ikea's biggest fan if he didn't get an Ikea Family invite for the preview day on Tuesday, to which anyone could have turned up as no cards or tickets were checked ?

I'm like a kid in there and will never leave without a hot dog and coffee in my hand otherwise i throw a tantrum.

I've got an ikea family card and never got an invite to the preview day.

Been 2 days on the trot. Only because I had to take something back. Today the fire alarm went off and we all had to just leave out trolleys/items and evacuate for about 20mins. They were having a lot of technical difficulties today with the tills and orders etc as well. A lot of people moaning but its a brand new building and a huge thing to swt up. It will have a few issues and thats to be expected. Great experience overall.

It wasnt anything to miss out on. Prior to rhata there had been friends and family days. It wasnt an invite you received. It was for you to go online and book a slot on yoir account. It was advertised.

It's here. Woooo hooooo!:love::banana::clap::partyhat:

No more long boring drives to Eastwood. No more spending my pennies in L**ds! And the Sheffield one is BETTER - for a change!

It really is better! Really pleased it's there as there are often little bits we want to buy (and of course the meatballs), so it's great not having to drive an hour to do so!

Very pleased!

If their recruitment was anything like when Tesco Savile Street did their's, they had to widen the net as a lot of people from around that area were not suitable for any positions.

Anybody from the Sheffield area comes into the category of 'local people'. If they meant from the immediate locality they would have phrased it that way.

The IKEA vacancies were not advertised on the Government's Job Centre Plus network so unemployyed Sheffielders had no way of knowing there were hundreds of vacancies available.

It's the usual story of big business turning to the agencies to fill their vacancies with cheap affordable labour from the continent whilst turning a blind eye to the needs of the local population in which they operate.
