Streamline
They may well be being honest, people are entitled to their opinion, it doesnt make it a socially acceptable one though. Something being "socially acceptable" doesn't mean it is correct though.
BritPat
I suppose those stars people were forced to wear, made identifying the slaves easier. No social mobility, know your place, huh? The stars served to warn the Nation that some among them were committed to keeping the Nation enslaved. Judea Declares War on Germany 1933
boyfriday
Something being "socially acceptable" doesn't mean it is correct though. Not necessarily, it's about social norms isn't it? We're conditioned to not make generalisations about people for whatever reasons, whether they be black, white, Muslim, Christian, gay, straight, male or female..that seems a sensible foundation from which to start from-even though within those groups you'll encounter idiots, however the stereotypes are challenged sufficiently often when we have positive experiences with individuals from various backgrounds, that it appears ill conceived to apply the stereotype in the first place. BritPat
it's counterproductive, to say the least, in the scheme of things. each country pitted against all others. just breeds all kinds of wrongs. history proves that. unless there's a new and improved point two oh version. Do you believe that universal democracy would be counter productive?

So with that in mind what do you really think of the British as a nation?
Wildcat
The stars served to warn the Nation that some among them were committed to keeping the Nation enslaved. Judea Declares War on Germany 1933 There is more on it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_boycott_of_German_goods You have cause and effect the wrong way around. The boycott was in response to Nazi anti-semitism.
BritPat
Funny old world then isn't it? Krupps, Thyssen, DuPont, General Motors, Ford, and Texaco, are just a few of the big players of global capitalism who supported and benefited from National Socialism. John X It's a funny old world when you don't even understand your own point of view There is nothing wrong with Industry or even the dreaded Banksters and Financiers from benefiting when it is They who are doing the Supporting When the State and the People have to do the supporting of Bankers and Global Corporations in order to survive that is a different matter. Bounce
..as far as I know, we all do Streamline? But rather than play with you I'll answer your question-Ive no interest in my 'African ancestry', I dont know anything about it, don't know the circumstances in which my 'family' ended up in the West Indies and have never visited the west coast of Africa, where they're most likely to have come from-I know more about my German ancestry than I do my African one. and that's something to be proud of is it? You don't need to justify yourself to a bigot.
