AJ sheffield
Neither does a grown man beating up 12 year old boys. Its says three early teens.
Moonbird
When you have three cocky kids who regardless of how many bystanders there are start to throw at an elderly couple you can hazard a guess at how they would have responded to a polite request to stop. You may be right but the OP says that they were only in their early teens and as such they were children, surely a grown man should not be attacking children, and to get things into perspective they were only flicking bits of paper, all that the man needed to do was stand up and assert himself he didn't need to threaten with violence. Chris_Sleeps
Its says three early teens. Okay ... beating up 14 year old boys then. Beating someone up should be the last resort.
AJ sheffield
Flicking bits of paper, actually. Well worth a punch. Again, stupid idea, How does anyone know what the bloke was planning on doing, he could have just been using scare tactics.

It was just one of the boys. And these were small pieces of torn up tram ticket, hardly bricks. Let's not forget the facts. The fact no attempt was made to speak to the boy(s) and the first resort of the man was violence with the ensuing reaction of the couple and some passengers was condoning made me wonder if we now have demonised youths so much that we forget reason ourselves as adults. What violence, the man used intimidation, just like the kids were using against the elderly couple.

I do agree to some extent with that comment.
AJ sheffield
The threat of violence IS violence... And they were obviously intimidated by that threat and stopped, end of.
mynameisdan
How does anyone know what the bloke was planning on doing, he could have just been using scare tactics. Still, the threat of violence should be a final resort. IMO
