Yes, down the hill from somewhere near the Lyceum to Pond Street bus station.

echo.

It seemed to me that they were at the end of Surrey St after you passed the Central Library but I’d definitely stand corrected on that

I seem to think that they were at the bottom side of the Lyceum, likewise I  could well be corrected.

Yes. they were almost opposite the Lyceum stage door. There was some waste ground just before the steps started.

That's what I remember to @ping although it's a long time ago.

Yes to the rear of the Lyceum. Across Arundel Street (now Arundel Gate) and then a short distance down Arundel Lane where the steps began.

Due to it being a right of way when the new buildings were constructed a footpath had to be allowed for in the development. The steps now go between the Odeon Cinema and Sheffield Hallam University Adsetts Centre.

echo.

Yes you are all of course entirely right, as I can now see myself scuttling along Chapel Walk , crossing over the road  and the Lyceum would be bang opposite at the end of that lane .

If you missed a bus , wasn’t it about 30 mins wait at normal times ?

There was an occasional Owler Bar one as well I think

If you do manage to open it, I think you are on the 3rd row, 5th from the right,IMG_4349.thumb.jpeg.cd80746d24d234b35ef551d5e2daccdb.jpeg
