CorkerSWFC
hi im planning going away for a night with the wife and kids we wondered about rhyl or colwyn bay for 1 night whats it like for the kids and that. I used to live down the road from Ryhl when i was younger (Holywell), it's almost identical to Cleethorpes.
Stan Tamudo
I used to live down the road from Ryhl when i was younger (Holywell), it's almost identical to Cleethorpes. The one thing about that coast line that reminds me of Cleethorpes is the tide, when it goes out it goes out.

mikeG
Went to Rhyl last night. The Manfreds were on at the New Pavilion Theatre which is very nice and hosts plenty of good shows. Other than that though, the town is a bit run down and the promenade near all the amusement arcades is a mess. Llandudno is a much better bet. Nice hotels on the front - not cheap though. metalman
I'm sure we went to Rhyl once when I was a kid, and it was the second coldest windiest day out we had. Second only to the day in Porthcawl.
Grandad.Malky
. Imagine Blackpool if it was run by gypsies and you have Rhyl. That just about sums it up, they are both stuck in the 70`s and need to do a lot if they are ever to become family holiday destinations again. Snowdownia is nice but give the mountain zoo a miss and if you go on the mountain railway expect it to be a pea souper when you get to the top the odds are you wont be able to see a thing even if it is a clear sunny day at the bottom. callippo
Snowdonia and Llandudno are too far for just the one night. The kids won't find much wrong with Rhyl. It's also quite an easy drive and not so far. Very similar to Cleethorpes and Skeggy really except it catered to mainly Brummies in its golden era, rather than the northern cities like the east coast resorts. Bulgarian
Colwyn Bay is lovely. Conwy is lovelier - a walled town with a castle and nice cafes, shops and pubs. Conwy is really nice.
alchresearch
Rhyl is improving very slowly, but it's still on a par with Cleethorpes. Like others have said Conway, Caernarvon and Llandudo are much better.
