Hayfever cures - Natural or "alternative"

Recommended Posts

Why alternative? What is wrong with the mainstream medical treatments available? Also, you do know that personal anecdotes are not evidence of efficacy don't you?

I do indeed realise this. I have all the mainstream treatments and write ups. I am writing an article and wanted to include peoples views and experience on treatments outside of the "norm". It is just a fluff article but so far I have only heard of natural, local honey as something that is meant to help.

I personally use mainstream mediation but wondered, after hearing about the honey, if there are any other alternatives. I am looking at hayfever as it is the right time of year for most sufferers to be thinking about it.

thanks

the most effective tool I found was a pair of shades that pinched my nose. They stopped me rubbing my eyes, seemed to give some protection to my eyes from the worst of the airborne menaces, and kept my fringe out of my eyes (also laden with pollen)

Eyeliner applied within the eye lid also helped, presumably forming a protective barrier on the skin

otherwise it's 3 days in bed being knocked out by piriton until my body adjusts to it, as more modern non-drowsy tabs don't work :(

In desperate circumstances (close to blind and with bleeding nose), inhaling stone cold water helps. Presumably I should consider a saline nose spray, now I know they're available, and store it in the fridge

Strix - yours sounds one of the most severe cases I have heard of!

Bulgarian - I am not sure as Richard ashcroft claims the drugs don't work, but like you I agree, they do for hayfever. Maybe he should change his lyrics to:

"and the drugs don't work (except for hayfever)"

Now the drugs don't work (except for hayfever)

They just make you worse drowsy

But I know I'll see your face again not be operating machinery
