denlin
Someone displays poor grammar and you conclude they are scammers? There is a difference between that and poor grammar, that looks as though it is written by someone who has English as their second language and it's too bizarre an idea to even contemplate following up. In short, it's a scam.
saxon51
Borat wrote it, or Alexandr Orlov maybe. Never buy a car from a Khazak or a Meerkat .... especially if they live in that famous 'city' of Thurso:suspect: PS. Thurso in Norse means Bulls water ...... just 3" away from Bullsh** basically. denlin
Yes and also if they have internet they will most likely have landline, why would they need to walk to phone box because mobile has no signal, what if they have need of emergency services, will they walk to phone box? liznospam
Clues from use of language: Thurso is a town not a city and is in Scotland, not "the Northern part of United Kingdom" If they have to walk 2 miles for a mobile phone signal, surely they need a car and don't travel by plane? The use of language and the story is bizarre and must surely be some sort of scam.
Proximus
There's a similar one going on with Gumtree. I asked for further info about a couple of properties on there that were up for rent. Both came back with similar replies about the owners having to leave the country. Both were furnished and both required a 2 month deposit of which 50% would be returned after the second month. Complete bull, but worrying that a slim margin of people fall for it and so the scammers keep at it.
dave89
i had something like like a few weeks back on gumtree, except the story was that the car was someones dead husband who had died in iraq, same kind of language though and had the same story from 3 different cars all advertised in rotherham all at an exact price such as £2000 or £3000

Cyclone
It's obviously a scam, but I'm puzzled as to how exactly it works. My guess is that you arrange to meet, they show up and then take your £2k at knife point. I can't see how else the scam works.
