truman
I had the same when answering an autotrader add on saturday 03/09/11 complete with pictures Hello, The 2006 LANDROVER FREELANDER is still available for £2600. The car is in excellent condition, garage kept and accident free. Has done only 77000 miles and comes with full service history. The car looks and works just fine and I never had problems with it. It comes with MOT (valid till 03/2011) and Road Tax ( valid till 02/2011). I am the registered keeper of the car and I have all the original papers. I must tell you that right now we are in the Northern part of United Kingdom we bought a big farm here in a beautiful sea-side city called Thurso. We are a couple of pensioners (I have 64 and my beloved wife is 63 years old). If you are really interested we are ready to make a trip to England and meet you personally next week. You can take the car for a test-drive and any kind of inspection. Please tell us where do you live? I am sure we can arrange a meeting, a region acceptable for us and for you in the same time. P.S. I appreciate if we can continue our conversation by e-mail. The mobile signal is poor here, we have to walk over 2 miles for a good phone call. Thank you and let me know, I did send a couple of replies before telling them I was on to them, why would you be selling a freelander when you live on a farm in the north of Scotland 'Cos you want money to buy a new one? pauld62
These people are still at it probably don't understand english? I replied with don't contact me anymore and got this??? Hello, Thank you for prompt response. As I told you the car is in perfect condition and has no technical problems. There are no visible scratches and no rust (corrosion). As I already announced you we are in Thurso now (the car is here as well). If you are interested in a test-drive and a full inspection I am ready to meet you. We can meet you next week Friday or Saturday morning in Newcastle. Let me know if you agree so I can start looking for a Hotel in the area. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: pdur131@aol.com To: br4g@live.com Subject: Re: Freelander Date: Tue, 6 Sep 2011 22:22:20 +0100 I don’t want to hear from you and your scam again
truman
So you'd sell a 12 grand car for 2600 to go buy a new one??? I wasn't replying to the amount just the fact that you think it's strange that someone living on a farm should want to sell a freelander... Tommy-T
My daughter Grace saw this Ford Ka Studio on Auto-Trader today, emailed seller and got reply below - same fella I guess:- From: Richard Marvel <richardmarvel@hotmail.co.uk> Date: Wed, May 16, 2012 at 6:46 AM Subject: RE: Ford KA! To: grace Hi, I still got the 2009 FORD KA STUDIO for sale at the price of £1350.The car is in excellent condition, garage kept and accident free. The mileage is genuine and I never had any problems with the engine. The car looks and works just perfect. We live in the Northern part of Scotland, in a beautiful sea-side city called Thurso. We are a nice couple of pensioners (I have 64 and my beloved wife is 63 years old) and don't use the car so often. We used to spend our time on the road but now we use to travel by plane so a car is no more useful for us. Also we sold our house and bought a big farm here in Thurso. If you are really interested we are ready to make a trip to England and meet you personally. You can take the car for a test-drive and any kind of inspection. Please let me know where are you based because I am sure that we can find a nice city in England to arrange a meeting, a suitable place for both. We have the faith that this can be a good deal! P.S. I appreciate if we can continue our conversation by e-mail. The mobile signal is poor here, we have to walk over 2 miles for a good phone call. Thank you and let me know, Richard Ford KA! damophoto
It's obviously a scam, but I'm puzzled as to how exactly it works. My guess is that you arrange to meet, they show up and then take your £2k at knife point. I can't see how else the scam works. I'm guessing they ask for a deposit to be paid up front, then arrange to meet somewhere but never turn up. Auto trader comes out weekly, so if they were to place say 30 ads and got say, a £200 deposit on each via some form of online payment, that's £6000! I'd stay well clear.
