Hello

Its the Sheffield Zumbathon in a few days time and we are expecting a huge volume of on the day participants as well as a good number who have pre registered for BHFs 50th birthday bash.

Even if you can’t attend, please can you help us continue to promote this brand new event? It takes place on Sunday 10 July at Don Valley Stadium to celebrate the British Heart Foundation’s 50th anniversary and raise funds for our ground breaking Mending Broken Hearts Appeal.

Zumba is a new Latin aerobics/dance exercise, lots of fun and suitable for anyone to give a go. Even if Zumba isn’t quite your thing, I am sure you can think of family and friends who would like to join in and feel the beat!

Amy Thompson, senior cardiac nurse at the British Heart Foundation, says “We all know we have to stay physically active to stay healthy but pounding it out at the gym is not everyone’s idea of fun. Alternative activities, such as zumba, that get your heart rate up but perhaps feel less like formal exercise, are great ways to help protect your heart.”

“We recommend adults do 30 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity at least five times a week, so a zumba class would definitely contribute towards reaching this goal.”

Sign up at bhf.org.uk/sheffieldzumbathon or go into any Sheffield International Venues Leisure Centre where they can register at the reception desk!
