The green door in the map on Bakers Hill off pond st seems to fit the bill of a possible bunker?
hillsbro
The green door is evidently that of an electricity substation that served the main post office. It used to have lattice-type gates like an old-fashioned lift, hence this thread - see post #20 etc.

I was reffering to the door at the bottom of the stairs which could have been a lift?
Banker
Both of the doors belong to the electrticity sub-station. I don't know if it still in use as the GPO building has been empty for years. There was never a lift in this location, but at one time there were lattice-type gates which gave this impression.
