Pushy Christians!!

Recommended Posts

I think everyone is a hypocrite in some way. But being a hypocrite isn't always a bad thing.

For example. I totally believe that women should have the right to do whatever they want with their own body, so I am all for prostitution, unless it's my daughter.

Do you think women opt into prostitution? It is a bit risky to mention Katie and prostitution in the same sentence

With churches closing down or struggling to maintain their upkeep, you would think that the Christian community would be pleased when a family wants to get their child christened, what ever the reason!

We are just about to christen our son. Not because we are religious but because we have a family tradition, which probably started due to religion.

I've never been through such an ordeal!! The vicar made us go to a Sunday service (fair enough), then a few weeks after they made all the families go to an evening at church where we had to watch a DVD about Christianity and how a God Parent is supposed to teach the newly christened child about Jesus and the Christian faith. Then, to top it off, we had to go to a rehearsal. The rehearsal was by far the worst part. The vicar was pushy with the young ones amongst us, she was like a old fashioned school teacher, asking us questions about Christianity and the role of a God Parent. I was on the verge of getting up and calling the whole thing off!

If anything, this has made my lack of faith even stronger. Do these people want our business or are they happier seeing their church rot into the ground?!

Doesn't sound like you had much faith to start with and because it was tested to the point you couldn't handle, you now protest.

Guess it time for your family to find another tradition that doesn't test you.

Sorry..... Tried reading that a couple of times and I don't understand it.

Their post was fairly clear but to surmise you're not a christian, you won't bring your prognecy up a christian so stop being an <REMOVED> and don't use a christian building for a private ceromony which involves you making lots of promises to the assembled croud that you are christian when you know you are lying.

As you seem to have no faith and be looking for a cheap place have a do try a loacl working mens club, more "you" and no need to pretend to believe in magic people.

Many of them do, yes. But either way, you get my point. If not, then replace prostitution with porn. Prostitution was just an example.

Wow so the 2nd largest landowning organisation is desperate for your £20.00.

You are making a solemn promise in front of friends and family that you will bring your offspring up in the Christian Faith.

Do you not value what you say to your children?

It was going to be a lot more than £20 believe me!

Talk about exaggerating! Of cause I value what I say to my kids you fool!! I'm getting him christened, I'm not exactly doing any harm to anyone!

For a start, what is a prognecy? And what is a ceromony? I also don't know what a loacl club is and I'm pretty certain that you can't get a child christened at one!

Sorry, but I can't understand this post either! What's the part about pretending to believing in magic people?

Of cause some women opt into prostitution. Some women get paid more than I do from selling their bodies! Have you never seen secret diary of a call girl? Hundreds of pounds an hour some girls earn!

But that's for another thread.

Use their facilities yes. Make a mockery of their belief system for the vanity of the parents no. I don't believe any christened baby has actually found god and therefore would request they be baptised. It's all the parents.

No, not always. My childrens Grandmother is Russian Orthodox and believes that if children die before they are christened that is an automatic entry to hell. Went to the church used by our family for three generations to be told "Go away, your Grandmother is Russian Orthodox" We eventually found an 'Orthodox' church prepared to to do the christening. With that kind of attitude I'm not surprised that the average age of person at the church is in the seventies.

So let me get this right, the church (a place to worship God) should be banned to people who don't follow their specific doctrine? Orthodox, Roman Catholic and Church of England all worship the SAME God. The church is GOD's house so why the refusal to accept people praying to God because they don't have the same beliefs?
