I know this is an old thread, but I wondered if anybody knew any am dram companies that would like volunteer a prop maker/scenic artist/designer? Ive just moved to Sheffield after being away for 4 years, and really want to bring my creativity here with me Many thanks Loads of them in Sheffield, there's a very active musical/theatre community. Off the top of my head (probably forgotten loads more or some may have folded): Manor Operatic Society, Teachers, Ellesmere, Splinters, Denis Edward Players. Try going to the foyer of the Library and the Montgomery Theatres, both of which are heavily used by amateur societies, and pick up leaflets for forthcoming productions, then you could contact them to offer to help for future productions.
