Gowly eyes. Have you heard of it?

Has any sheffielders ever heard this before? My mum said it today, she said thats what they used to call it when you had gunge in the corner of your eye, ive never heard of it and its not on wiki or google, so is it just an old saying?

I think it must be an age thing, my mum is in her 60,s, so maybe it was something that was said when she was younger. Just wondered if anyone around her age had heard it, or she had made it up :hihi:

Yes, "Gowl" or "Sleep", my Gran used to say it. Thanks for the memory.:)
