ratter71
Should poor people get priority for allotments; The unemployed, low wage workers, asylum seekers whom are forbidden from working legally and fellow European/A2 nationals who are denied access to the social safety net. No those without a garden should get priority for allotments Why?
manofstrad
In answer to the thread title I think that poor people should be allowed to grow their own food, but under strict supervision with strict hygiene measures in place.
Guest sibon
I thought that poor people were supposed to grow our food. Or have I misunderstood the common agricultural policy?

chem1st
those without a garden should get priority for allotments It would make a lot more sense to provide higher amounts of allotments near flats and in areas where properties are being converted to HMOs... Anna B
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the computerised scheme set up by Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall (The River Cottage TV chef) which aims to register and unite anyone with a bit of spare land, underused garden, etc with people who require a bit of land to grow their own food on. The computer will match up people in the same area, so both parties are happy. Seems like a neat solution to me.
