EL261209
I downloaded that ISO link that Tony said & put it onto disk & Booted my laptop using it. It came up with several tests and it says my laptops passed them all... does this mean everythings okay?? Sounds good so far! Ramp up the settings of your firewall and check in with Tony and see what he says. He seems to be more the expert

Tony Erikson
Download MBAM and Spybot. and give them a run. Have you changed all passwords? None of it's guaranteed, as I said it depends what access you gave him.

Tony Erikson
i've changed all passwords... but as soon as i log in the stuff on this laptop again.. he can simply get the new password? If you run malwarebytes and spybot. you should be completely free of any traceable junk. Once that's done change your passwords again if unsure. It should reboot and get rid of the junk I believe. If it needs you to do anything it will prompt.

wodger
I wrote about this scam some weeks ago in the Star. But all I got was abusive posts. Now it is happening to a lot of people. It is a money making scam where they mess up your system and then offer to sell you the disc that will put it right. It does not. Yes reboot in safe mode and run a system check.
