Scammers pretending to be 24sevenpccare.com

I wrote about this scam some weeks ago in the Star. But all I got was abusive posts. Now it is happening to a lot of people. It is a money making scam where they mess up your system and then offer to sell you the disc that will put it right. It does not. Yes reboot in safe mode and run a system check.

As the Anti-virus companies are able to stop the current popular virus then the crooks create another. The anti-virus is like cops, they cannot do anything until a law is broken and they are told about it. And someone has to be among the first to get cheated and hurt before they know about it so they can try to nullify it. And those that are hackers a lot of the time do not see what they do as illegal or immoral, they see it as a challenge to their computer skills. And they never actually see their victims face-to-face to know the damage that they have done. Those few that are taken to court and face their victims always seem to say that they didn't realize how much harm they were doing by stealing someone's identity or their life savings. Too bad we cannot give them a taste of their own medicine by them going home and finding their residence trashed or have to spend time with their victims (who will be allowed to provide any punishment they desire). It is possible that their voice would go higher for a while from well aimed kicks.
