ricgem2002
in these times of spending cuts should criminals arrested by the police have to pay for the services they have used up before being caught? heres an example youth steals bike/car hes joyriding around the city .the police are called and a chase pursuits the force helicopter is scrambled and after say 40 mins hes caught .should he have to pay for the 40 mins the helicopter was in the air, therefore reducing the amount of money you and i would have to pay in council tax. denlin
What a great idea:hihi::hihi: Unworkable though I fear because the lowlifes who do this don't have any money thats why they think it's OK to steal someone elses property:roll:

HeadingNorth
they could take it out of his dole money/ wages why does everyone think a criminal is not working At a pound a week it'll take him about 600 years to pay that off. It simply isn't a practical option, for all that it might have other merits.

Mr Prime
How would a criminal pay for the 40 minutes the police helicopter was in the air? It is a nonstarter. Not all criminals are called Wayne and wear tracksuits, some do have cash, some from places like Dronfield are middle class criminals who's families have a few quid. Think outside the box. Besides, the usual wasters can have a deduction regardless. I've always thought the families of prisoners should contribute towards the costs of running prisons, why should the taxpayer foot the total bill when the crims have families and business, crime empires in some cases who can pay? Grandad.Malky
so how come the government makes benefit cheats pay back money when they are on benefit Because it looks like they are doing something to tackle the problem, unfortunately like someone as already said it will be 10 bob a week for ever and a day.
