Lib Dems could lose a quarter of their seats in Tory gerrymandering plan

Recommended Posts

The boundary review to equalise constituencies and reduce their number by 50, agreed by Nick Clegg in exchange for the AV referendum in the coalition agreement, is threatening the biggest upheaval to the Commons of this parliament. MPs have been warned that almost no seat is safe.

It is feared that the Lib Dems could lose 14 of its 57 (24.6%) MP's in this Tory gerrymandering plan, that will see a reduction of 50 MP's overall in the Commons.

The Cons would lose 16 (5.2%) and Labour 17 (6.6%) of their seats.

Whilst the reduction in the number of Lib Dem MP's will be lamented by few, it begs the question who needs enemies when you've got friends like the Conservatives!
